Grady McMurtry

October 18, 1918 – July 12, 1985

Aleister Crowley named McMurtry Hymenaeus Alpha which enumerates as 777 with the suggestion that he be the successor can be seen to mean in this instance as Magical Son or Succession

Following the death of Karl Germer with no successor in 1962, and with others claiming succession as head of the O.T.O, McMurtry assumed the title “Caliph of O.T.O.,” as specified in Crowley’s letters to McMurtry from the 1940s. His witnesses were Dr. Israel Regardie (1907–1985) and Gerald Yorke, who both offered their support.
